True, it is the TYPE of place I'd expect to find her but coming all the way down mid week, it was a surprise!

Whilst at drama school in North London, I worked in a pub in Crouch End in the evenings. One evening a chap came in and as he approached the bar I thought, "I know this guy... who the hell is it?" I wondered if he'd been a regular at a pub I'd worked in down in Reading, so I said, "did you used to drink in the Hook & Tackle in Reading?" He laughed and said he didn't.
His mates started laughing and said to him, "go on, ask him to empty his pockets!"
About 2 hours later it dawned on me who he was - Tony O'Callaghan, alias Sgt Matthew Boyden from The Bill. Was I embarrassed? I should cocoa!

This week in the car on way home from pub/theatre, we've been listening to the Alex Hall late show on BBC radio York. (North Yorkshire boradcast but received here in South Yorkshire). Anyway she's really funny. People phone in and have their moan about life in general etc. We checked out her website to get her email to plug the play (but she won't because we have to ring in apparently) and it says on her cv she was in Emmerdale and her character was killed off. She has one of those really familiar faces too. Anyone fill me in here?

When standing on street corners, I may be working but I'm certainly not begging. That's extra.

Talking of which, I was in a pub (really??? you say) in Streatham when I got up to buy a round (yes it has been known) there sitting behind me was the guy who plays Sgt Cryer.
I guess we should call this thread name-dropping then I won't be off-topic

Apparently, that same chap who plays Sgt Cryer used to be a member of my theatre - a tad before my time though ...

I used to look after Dickie's telephone system. Been in his house several times. Even the bedroom with Lady A...(don't ask!)
He is indeed the nicest man you could ever wish to meet. Very ordinary, unassuming sort of chap. Not like some of these people who think they are oh so special.

I can name drop too. Michael Ball was in the audience when I was in "Bazaar and Rummage" and he came backstage afterwards to congratulate us.

Well watch out for him again when you are in Cornwall, as he was on carpark duty when I went to the Minack some years back.

Me too, me too.........I can name drop too!
Um...I sat next to Barbara Windsor when I went to see "Damn Yankees" in London a few years back.
Sat with Elaine Page and Christopher Biggins at a big showjumping party once - both very nice and masses of fun.
Met Dame Vera Lyn countless times as she's a big showjumping fan.
Bumped into (not literally) Anthony Andrews out with the Surrey Union hunt.
Anyone else?
