Our theatre group has lost its webmaster. We have been very satisfied with the work that our webmaster was doing and would like to keep the quality as it is. I wonder if there is a place on the net where a novice could learn how to do the routine maintenance on an already existing website.
Any ideas? We are an all volunteer group and we have no one on the payroll. This would probably have to be on a volunteer basis, also.

Eva,

Someone helped me set up the very first page of The Cuddington Players website and I then muddled on from there with no previous experience. The tip I was given at the beginning was if you see some style that you like on another webpage, take a look at their code, by view source code, to see how it has been created.

Our site is hosted on angelfire which has a help section, but there are loads of other sites on html coding. One I have used in the past to find out how to do things like tables is html goodies

But the best thing would be to get your previous webmaster to spend half a day with you, showing how they update your site currently.

Best of luck.
Claire

I don't mind helping you get started. Drop me an email with some details and I'll take a look. Maybe we can meet up for online chat to agree a way forward.

Cheers

Thank you Claire and Kenny for the magnanimous offers to help. Our website it at My Webpage
It is not likely that I will be the one doing anything with the website (already too many jobs as it is) but if you want to take a look, I will be trying to find someone to work on it. We are in the states, about 7 or 8 hours behind you in time. But Kenny, maybe we can arrange to chat about this. Let me work on that.
You have given me hope. everybody! Thanks.

Just for reference, the web site doesn't display anything more than a completely blank page in Opera.

We are sort of on-again, off-again with the website updates. Still a few shows behind and I am still "cheerleading" (all I am able to do) to get our young technogeeks (this term is used with much fondness) inspired to jump on it. I have announced a competition to our two most recent webmasters to get the thing up (up to date, I mean).
