Hi guy's,
Sorry I haven't been around for a while, but I'm up to my neck in it. We are about to launch into the last week of Les Miz, I must say I don't think I'll be doing this work and try to do a thriller at the same time again! Just about done me in!
I want to know if any of you guy's have seen or know someone who has, the musical "Return to the forbidden Planet"
We are doing it in the new year. I would like to know who sings what, in particular Dr. Prospero, and Miranda. If anyone would happen to have a program well that would be nice!

Cheers,
Aussie bob

There have been quite a few threads about this- it's a popular show. We did it last year, and most people I know have done it at some stage.

Prospero sings Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood and Shakin' All Over, and Monster Mash at the end if you decide to do it.

Tempest sings lead in Good Vibrations, Young Girl, snippets of Man's World, We Gotta Get Out of this Place.

Gloria sings Man's World with Tempest, We've Already Said Goodbye, and It's In His Kiss (Shoop Shoop Song).

Cookie sings Shake Rattle and Roll, and She's Not There (with disallowed word-ripping guitar solo, complete with every gyration ever used by any axe hero you've seen!).

Miranda sings Robot Man.

Ariel sings Who's Sorry Now.

Ensemble sing GLORIA and Good vibrations, and backing to most other songs.

That's off the top of my head- I'm sure there are a few others I've missed out.

Good luck with it- it's a great show! biggrin.gif

it is indeed a fab show . . a few corrections and additions to simon's post tho tongue.gif

prospero also sings 'i'm gonna change the world'

gloria doesnt sing the shoop shoop song (its the bosun and cookie) along with go now and mans world

miranda also sings teenager in love

xx

I knew I'd forget a couple. dry.gif

But to make me feel better, there's another one that we both forgot- Gloria and Cookie sing Tell Her (which is what I was thinking of when I misassigned the Shoop Shoop Song! rolleyes.gif )

Just to let you know that in the newly-released version of Planet, the Shoop Shoop song has been replaced by some weird thing I've never heard of. As I'm currently directing a production of this show I am getting to grips with the song but have currently got no idea what I'm going to do with it.

Give us back the Shoop Shoop please, Josef Weinberger....because it's in his kiss; that's where it is!

It's called "Yeh Yeh". Actually, it could be quite fun but it's just NOT the "Shoop Shoop" if you know what I mean.

Pamela, I'll email you it to take a look at.

I think Matt Bianco did a version of that sometime in the 80s. No, he never did anything else, as far as I'm aware.

I'd be happy with either song. I well remember Georgie Fame when I lived in Uk, we used to catch him at the Tottenham Royal along with a mob called The Dave Clark five. God doesn't that age you!! I'll have to check which version we're doing. I wonder Anne Marie if you could keep me up to date on your production and especially if you encounter any probs, (forwarned etc)! Chookas for it anyway!

If you're interested I shot an other Planet last night.

About 1095 photos in the end.. LOL

Only 250 on my website..

Might get ideas off them...

http://www.StagePhotography.co.uk Top one...

They went for a kinda retro sexy look... Hmmmm..
Can't say I approve... The ladies cossys weren't the most flattering..

The production is the one AM is doing with the new songs...

I actually didn't like it. The older version was much better...
A couple of the new songs just seem plain weird..

Bloody awesome George! Thanks so very much. I will pass on (with your permission), some of these pix to our director who will be delighted, it'll give her or actually the production designer, some ideas.
I will not do this until you give me permission.

Thanks again

Nice set
George
Hmmmmm it looks better in the photos...

I was very flat. amdram I Suppose, mostly hardboard
steps and that... Silver paint lines over matt black.

Steps had lights as a couple of other places...

I prefer a rounder looking set, but most groups
don't have the scope or room for those...
Madzo
ive seen it and loved it!!!!!!!!
if you look on the site of the ppl hu toured wiv it this yr, it had john elkington as prospero, they were great and the set was lovely and looked very strong when they swung off it lol
good luck in it!

George, I did try to get tickets for this production but they were sold out. Any chance you could put me in touch with the group please, as there's a couple of items I'm keen on hiring.

PMing you now..

So finaly got my hands on the script! WOW! I never dreamt it was written in Shakesperean type dialogue.
Very interesting. Now where's me guitar, time for a tune up, (one way or another)!
