Can anyone recommend any companies where we can hire either tie mikes or lapel mikes for use in a revue in May ? As we're stuated in Kent, any companies in Kent or London would be best.
Does anyone know how how these mikes would connect into a standard sound board ?

Hi

I presume your are requiring radio mics?

Lots of companies to try as a start Trafalgar lighting in Enfield tons in London.

These attach to your mixer using standard XLR connections from the reciever to sound desk (transmitter sits on actor)

UHF is much better than VHF - expect to pay around ?65 per mic per week. Check batteries used - yo should renew batteries each show. 9v are more expensive than AA as used in newer mics

siting of mic is important on the person - if you've never used them before - get some pracitcal assistance

I know of a company that has a couple of places - one in Cambridge and the other in London. Stage Electrics is the name of the company. We get various bits and pieces from them, they have been pretty helpful - even to the amateur groups! - they don't talk down to you like some do!!
I will see if I can find their web address and phone number and then post it on here.

Stage Electric and Whitelight are really good companies and I've delt with them in the past for professional; productions or really specialized kit. However they do charge premium prices.

I'm a firm believer in the old phrase "you only get what you pay for" but there are suppliers I'd be happy to recommend (lighting, sound and staging) who have the same (or better equipment) than the big guys at better prices

That said if you're using 10+ mics in an area that might have signal conflicts then the big boys are the best as they have a better range of frequencies
