We find we use shimmer curtains quite a lot in our productions, and they always seem impossible to take down and reuse. Does anyone know of a source for stronger ones that might be reusable, rather than the cheap ones you then have to throw away?

Just a thought Di!
I think oprop the member from Whitley Bay in the North East, had a good idea for a slash curtain, made from video tape!
It would certainly shimmer but not glitter as such!
though with your talent & expertise, could you not make your own shimmer slash drape?

If you are serious about being able to store a used slash curtain, get some sheeting the same size as the curtain and then lay the curtain on it. Then roll them up together (around a pole or tube). This will keep the curtain from tangling.

Thanks folks - those all look useful. I'm also thinking of buying sequinned fabric and slitting it, but haven't decided yet

We call it slash curtain. I cant stand it as it reflects back a huge amount of light at the audience! The sets the Revue have are used periodically and are robust enough to not break!

WRT Joe's comments about video tape, are you talking about the brown stiff that has a shiny back?

Firstly it is a horrible colour. Secondly it is hugely inflammable, and I would have thought impossible to flame proof

It?s the black shiny stuff Nick, as was suggested by Oprop some time ago!
So during the power cut we have just had, someone obviously knocked over a power pole?
I reeled out a length of old video tape & tried to light it using a butane lighter, it shrivelled up but would not perpetuate flame as such, but that?s not to say it wouldn?t under or given other conditions!
But I could see it working well as a slash drape!

For future reference - these people have been extremely helpful, and I'll order from them
