Is anyone interested in having access to moving lights ? either as a director - to understand their possibilities (and limitations, or as a techie to learn the practical controls etc?

I could run such a course in Oct in Guildford Surrey, where I'll have access to a rig on a weekend.

If your interested let me know - and tell me what you'd like it to contain (you'd get a chance to play with the whole rig anyway)

PS see previous post if you wnat to learn more and help on a rig and programming session

How much? How long?

The courses will be either an am or pm course or even a whole day one depending on the uptake and content required. They are normally priced at ?10 - ?20 depending

I normally run a course for lighting techies which is fairly in depth and one for other interested parties which is more of an over view - in both everyone gets to play

I like to keep the numbers small but have to strike a balance as I use then as fundraising for the show

And I've been on Martin's courses (as he tends to use my shows' lighing rigs!) and they're excellent value. A good chance for director (me) or my cast to actually get hands-on and have a go at moving the whole rig.

Normally no LD lets me within a mile of his desk!!

OK I'm jealous, Martin's input has been excellent and I can't believe his courses are anything other than superb.

But Guildford's a loooong way away - you never come North Martin? Or know someone who does?

...and what show is it? Sounds intriguing!

Martin,

Please can you put me down as a definate possible!

It depends on the date of your session and also the autumn show that our group are doing plus I have another one night gig to do.

Are you talking weekdays or weekend? Either way, I have access to free accomodation within 1/2 hour. (depending on time of travel! sad.gif

Best wishes ...... Robin

Hi,

Regarding these lighting courses, can I put my name forward too? I am fascinated and want to learn more about lighting (well, about all aspects of the theatre!)

When and where is it all happening? And how much?

Great thanks for the interest, I think I said in an earlier post the the course will be in Guildford during Oct and cost between ?10 - ?20. I'll post a proper advert up on the main site nearer the time when things are firmer.

It'll be almost certainly on Saturday 4th October or Sunday 5th October, as that's the weekend in the middle of the run. We may even get Martin to run one each day (one for directors and interested parties, one for lighting geeks!).

We'll keep in touch via this forum, or email one of us (preferably Martin) for finer details.

We haven't actually auditioned the show let alone booked the lights yet - but as the rig is planned already we know what it'll be within reason.

Anne-Marie means that I'll run 2 courses - the one for non lighting people will be less in depth and techie - more of an overview of what the kit can do and it's practical applications. The lighting one will be more techie orientated (where I can use words of more than one syllible!)
