Gimme Gimme (that thing called love) from Thoroughly Modern millie and "You can keep your hat on" because I'm running an impro workshop with 25 teenage girls on it this afternoon. On refelction, am I totally crackers? blink.gif
Singing Librarian
Um, yes? Possibly...

Currently stuck in my head: 'I Believe in You' from How To Succeed and the stupid, stupid 'Lambeth Walk', which I'd rather be rid of now, thank you very much!

oooh yeah, thast a terrible one for getting well and truly stuck!
Simon
Unfortunately, I have nothing so cultured stuck in my head. 3 year old Erin (see avatar) rules the TV on Sunday mornings, and so I have the cleaning up song to "Big Cook Litle Cook" dominating my mind.

A far cry from what I will be rehearsing in a couple of hours- "Love for Sale"!
angiebabes
The song that has been in my head now for a while is Van Morrison ..... Someone Like You biggrin.gif
Lesley c

Yes-excellent song-I did't sing that one though, It was the duet we had to abandon the night before as one of the singers lost her voice. Thankfully she sang it brilliantly last night. The "wicked witch character " came on in full costume-apart from the green face -the MD wasn't expecting it and promptly had fits of the giggles-only JUST managed to play! laugh.gif

i've had polly garter's song from under milk wood in my head. not sure if it's the tune they use in the radio version, but i've not been able to get rid of it.

One that is somehow very appropriate:

"What's the use of getting sober, when you're gonna get drunk again"

Over the weekend I had watched too much "Lost" so I had mama cass's "Play your own kind of Music" going round and round.

Last night I managed to watch the first half of the new"Rent" movie, so today I have the whole show playing in my head.
Lesley c
Been humming " I Wish I May" from Witches Of Eastwick. smile.gif

I was accused of being unnecessarily cheery as I arrived in theatre this morning, singing "Rap Tap on Wood", which I was rehearsing yesterday. So I changed to "Just one of those things" instead, but Rap Tap wouldn't go away without a fight!

Singing Librarian
For some reason, the 'Conga' from 'Wonderful Town' was pounding in my head as I was on noise patrol around the library this afternoon. It was very difficult to keep quiet!

I love the idea of noise patrol - do you tiptoe round and shush noisily? If you have a shushing method that works, can you let us in on the secret so that we can use it on kids backstage?
laura
Sunny Afternoon-The Kinks.

at least i think that's the title, my friend did me a copy of the album and i don't have the titles!
biggrin.gif
Singing Librarian
Just the presence of librarians seems to help with noise reduction. The looks we can give people are very effective. I have found that it doesn't work backstage, though, possibly as I rarely wear my glasses on stage, and librarian stares are so much less effective without them!
Grooveymover
Just booked my tickets to see the tour of Anything Goes when it comes to norwich at the end of this month... therefore my tune of the day is "Blow Gabriel blow" smile.gif
Singing Librarian
I seem to have been attacked by the ghost of Sigmund Romberg - 'Softly as In a Morning Sunrise' and the 'Serenade' ("Overhead the moon is beaming...") are twirling away in my head today.
Queen of drama
well I guess a couple abba songs blink.gif

For some unknown reason, "9 Million Bicycles" by Katie Melua has taken up residence in my cranium blink.gif
Simon
Did you hear the short re-recording of it she did after an astronomer complained that she had her facts wrong? Very clever and very funny!

No-how did it go?

I've got Abba songs on the brain as I have to sing one tomorrow night at a charity fund raiser for Childline.
Simon
Here are a couple of links- the jist is that Simon Singh, a science writer, said she had her facts all wrong and that her lyrics were an insult to science, so he rewrote technically correct lyrics. In an absolutely spot-on spirit of fun, she recorded them, and even managed to get them to scan. If you want to listen to them, I think the second link has a recording (but the computer I'm on at work doesn't have sound, so I can't check. Sorry.)

Oh darn it, now that's stuck in my head. Stupid song. It replaces 'You Walk With Me', which I'm trying to learn for no apparent reason (certainly not planning to appear in 'The Full Monty' at any point in my life).

Since I heard the sad news about Gene Pitney, "Somethings gotta hold of my heart..."
Singing Librarian
I don't like, and never did like, Gene Pitney's singing voice. Does that make me a bad person?
Queen of drama
money money money By abba! blink.gif
Maureen
I think the fact that your view of him doesn't change because he's dead actually makes you a pretty good person... smile.gif

Like the old Not the Nine O'clock news sketch... Two politicians are having a blazing row during an interview and one roars, ?This man is a liar, a fraud and a hypocrite! This is the kind of man who?? (at which point his infuriated rival falls off his chair with an apparent heart attack) ??who will be sorely missed. A great parliamentarian and a close personal friend. My thoughts go out to his family.?

You can eventually get to the recording from the second link but to save time here's a more direct link. Incidentally, I think Katie Melua is a very good sport for going along with it biggrin.gif
