Unfortunately, I have nothing so cultured stuck in my head. 3 year old Erin (see avatar) rules the TV on Sunday mornings, and so I have the cleaning up song to "Big Cook Litle Cook" dominating my mind.
A far cry from what I will be rehearsing in a couple of hours- "Love for Sale"!

Yes-excellent song-I did't sing that one though, It was the duet we had to abandon the night before as one of the singers lost her voice. Thankfully she sang it brilliantly last night. The "wicked witch character " came on in full costume-apart from the green face -the MD wasn't expecting it and promptly had fits of the giggles-only JUST managed to play!

Last night I managed to watch the first half of the new"Rent" movie, so today I have the whole show playing in my head.

I was accused of being unnecessarily cheery as I arrived in theatre this morning, singing "Rap Tap on Wood", which I was rehearsing yesterday. So I changed to "Just one of those things" instead, but Rap Tap wouldn't go away without a fight!

I love the idea of noise patrol - do you tiptoe round and shush noisily? If you have a shushing method that works, can you let us in on the secret so that we can use it on kids backstage?

Just the presence of librarians seems to help with noise reduction. The looks we can give people are very effective. I have found that it doesn't work backstage, though, possibly as I rarely wear my glasses on stage, and librarian stares are so much less effective without them!

I've got Abba songs on the brain as I have to sing one tomorrow night at a charity fund raiser for Childline.

Here are a couple of links- the jist is that Simon Singh, a science writer, said she had her facts all wrong and that her lyrics were an insult to science, so he rewrote technically correct lyrics. In an absolutely spot-on spirit of fun, she recorded them, and even managed to get them to scan. If you want to listen to them, I think the second link has a recording (but the computer I'm on at work doesn't have sound, so I can't check. Sorry.)

Like the old Not the Nine O'clock news sketch... Two politicians are having a blazing row during an interview and one roars, ?This man is a liar, a fraud and a hypocrite! This is the kind of man who?? (at which point his infuriated rival falls off his chair with an apparent heart attack) ??who will be sorely missed. A great parliamentarian and a close personal friend.
