Jane...

We got a "home" as such for Backstage threads...

But what about On The Boards?

i.e. acting, etc...

We could put it in Misc I suppose...
Zorro
or Treading The Boards ...
Ryano
Kenny, you, you, you're good!
amdram - Jane
When I first set up the board there was such a forum, however, no one posted there and people originally thought there were too many different forums - so I deleted it. I'll happily put it back if people think there is a need for it.

Yes why not Jane, i seems to be aimed at Techy (spit spit) people... bless them..

An actor's area would help take the posts out of Misc where they seem to all go..

smile.gif

what ya think
amdram - Jane
I'll mention this to the Moderators and see what we can do about a bit of a tidy up.

Jane
Martin
I'm all for an actors area - lets' call it Jail!!!!

George the reason why there seems to be a lot of techy stuff is

1. Us techys need a retreat from you darling actors *spit* outside of bar hours

2. Us techys need a place where we can exchange ideas in our impossible quest to make actors look good - we try hard but actors ruin it by walking on to the stage and opening their gobs!

3. You actors need to have a place where you can aspire to become a member of once yourealise the futility of being a mere actor

hehehehe biggrin.gif
dogsbody
How will the luvvies find this area?
From experience they have problems with cue line for us techies so how do you suppose they will remember where to post their contributions?
Martin
Dogsbody

We surround the area with lights and they natrually go to the dark place. Maybe we could provide blocking notes ... Nah they wouldn't follow them...

Oh here's an idea may we get one of the backstage team to show them the way ....just like we have to do at the theatre
Anne-Marie
We could get a follow spot - so they can find their way.........
Martin
Hey maybe we should rename the whole forum "The Props Table" then no actors would find the place at all - they'd just sit there in the ether screaming at anyone to provide their posts

Still shouldn't knock actors as without them I'd have nowhere to wipe my dirty shoes
Zorro
And maybe it could be moderated by the prompt ...
playsforplaytime
Or perhaps you lot should be prompted by the moderators!!!!

Oops! a bit political. Sorry :-(
George
hmmmmm is it me or do others get the feeling that someone's taking the micky here... *wink*

Well I since I am a "Part Time" Techy.... I'm going to have ANY view on this what-so-ever....

Make it VERY simple for the actors...

Actors Forum Rules...

No words longer than 6 letters...

Directions on everything topic... [TYpe Now.] [Turn Computer Off.] etc etc

Not allowed to leave a topic without telling an other actor how wonderful they were and not mean a word of it...

disallowed word like hell when someone gets to start a thread YOU wanted to start... Of course, you would have started it better...

any more?

heehehe
Zorro
Plus you have threads for principals that nobody else can participate in, interspersed by threads for chorus where everybody replies at the same time.
playsforplaytime
Yes, but, ever tried getting a whole cast together on the same night for rehearsals?

Posting will have to occur on the nights they are supposed to be rehearsing because, as they never turn up for rehearsals, we know they're at home and free to post!
Jonboy
The techies can wait until the thread is nearly at an end, even though the actors have been working on it for monhs then come in at the last minute with posts shouting at everyone proving they haven't read the thread. Then they can claim all the glory when the thread is deemed to have been successful.
Martin
The techies will have been on another thread sorting that one out while you luvvie darlings mince about wasting time getting your words wrong and even forgetting what the original thread was. laugh.gif

Of course a proper conclusion to the thread would be a mass post from the bar....

I guess for a thread to be 100% tekkiefied then it should be black text on a black background?

Is that because the lighting has failed?
George
hhehehe nice one...

naw... it's UV lighting and you can't see that on a computer... wink.gif
Martin
My lighting doesn't fail..... although it has been known to suffer from an extended blackout from time to time
Zorro
It's not broken, that's the way it was designed to work !! laugh.gif
Martin
Thanks Zorro... That was the reply I wanted to make but couldn't think of laugh.gif
Zorro
Otherwise known as a product feature. If you're not specific enough as to what your requirements i.e. give me a light, rather than, give me a light that creates illumination whenever I switch it on, then you reserve the right to add whatever "features" you feel appropriate to i.e. a feature of the light is that it stays dark in both the "on" and "off" modes laugh.gif

Umm guys, this thread has gone way off topic. Can I assume that an actors area would be a good idea?

Jane
playsforplaytime
mmmmm?

To Post or not to Post, that is the question?

Yes please oh Mighty Administrator.
George
YES IT'S A GREAT IDEA!!!! Keeps us away from threads like this... *wink*
Anne-Marie
Will techies be banned? Will you have to have proven yourself as an actor luvvie to go to the actor part of the forum......?
amdram - Jane
Okay there is now a section called The Stage - use it or lose it rolleyes.gif

So you have a foot in both camps. You must have a techie bias though. You have a sense of humour! LOL.

Ha ha! Pot, kettle, black! Good one Kenny. wink.gif
Zorro
Hang on, are you calling me the pot? Drat ... I fell into your off topic trap by replying!!

This topic was (in a previous life) a topic about suggestion for a new forum. We appear to have drifted away from land during the storm. Help, is there a moderator in the house?? This topic is badly abused!!
amdram - Jane
To be honest the message has now finished as the new forum is up and running. Therefore it is now moved to the archive smile.gif
