Help!

I'm currently Directing a very orignal production of 'The Wizard of Oz' with a student company at Leeds University.

I'm a recent Design Graduate and for my final degree project I re-invented the whole look of this show (i.e no gingham ohmy.gif ) and have a nice big shiny book with all my designs in.

Its an ambitious idea and I'm now looking for seamstress' in the local area to help make the costumes. I'm looking to get a team of about 10 people, so it wouldn't be heaps of work for 1 person.

Does anyone have any useful contacts in the Leeds area or fancy getting involved themselves?

I have managed to persuade the company to actually spend some money on costumes (!) so I'm keen to do this as well as possible!

Thank you very muchly,

Flo Nash biggrin.gif

Welcome Flo!
There are 23 groups in Leads listed on the database here;-

Besides this have you asked each of your cast, if their Mums, Granny?s or member of their families can help?
Even the blokes can get involved pining up or what ever!

Good luck with it. In my experience, it is possible to get people to help, but not to construct from scratch, especially if they can't work from a pattern. A team of 10 seems pretty unlikely unless Leeds is very well endowed with talent. And as you say, fewer people means more work.

Hope you'll be sewing too! biggrin.gif

Well naturally!

The last 2 shows the company has done I've been roped into single-handedly organising costumes blink.gif
which nearly resulted in me throwing my sewing machine out the window in exasperation!! So I know from first hand that it is too much work for a single student (esp for a show like wizard which has about a million characters!). I am happy to do my bit, but don't want to be too distracted from Directorial duties. I'm trying to persuade the actual fashion design students they want to help, but the are a busy bunch.

Thanks for the link though, I will try emailing some local societies.

I think this site is ace by the way!
