Uncle Harvey
I playing the part of 'The Constable' in 'Fiddler on the Roof' in Feburary next year.

As I am combining this with the role of Stage Manager. My costume needs to be simple,
A Hat (Ushanka), got one. And a coat of a matching colour, no problem.

My problem is I like little details such as insignia. I have Soviet era badges, but obviously they aren't suitable. Does anyone know what sort of insignia a Tsarist Constable would have ? Where did the Constable fit into the hierarchy?

Or can some one point me in the right direction, please?
Maureen
I've just done a web search for images (as I'm sure you may have done too) and found a huge range of interpretations of uniform from khaki with peaked cap to grey tunic with black belt and trousers and various furry concoctions. I would imagine the best look to try to follow would be whatever was used in the film.
