The cast of The King & I are all looking to get a tan (safely) by October and some of us just don't tan.
Anyone got any tips?
Would you go for a Spray on tan, risk orange streaks trying to do it yourself, or slap loads of make up on everynight?
Last time we did it we used make up but i have memories of getting the stuff off everynight and a brown rim around the bath!

I hate all that makeup. Tends to end up looking dreadful.
I always fake tan for shows anyway (although i wont be for king and i . . . ) if you do it properly you can self tan yourself fairly easily, although a spray tan is only ?18 or so . .

A few things to remember - is to exfoliate first & miosturise before you spray tan.
Always test tan up a few weeks before you require it, as all skins will colour up differently, this will ensure you get the required results.
It is a good idea to ensure that you keep your palms & also the soles of the feet, free of the tan solution. Choose carefully the colour, out of the can, that it is the shade you need.

I'd go with pamela on this one and get your cast to fake tan. Stuff these days is much better and easier to use and therefore less likely to streak. It just means wandering around looking like you've had an exotic holiday for a while. Make up is likely to make a right mess of the costumes.
I presume your men are shaving/waxing chests?

When we did it, we sponsored the guys to wax (rather than shave) and the sponsorship money went to charity. And we got to watch them being waxed (chest only!). Har har!

Good Idea Maureen, I would certainly be prepared to do it for Charity

Tee Hee-yes but we havent told them yet!
I'm definately going to get a spray on-we've negotiated a cut price with a local beauty saloon. Think I'll try it out when I'm on leave just in case it goes horribly wrong!
The King is going to shave his head for charity so perhaps we can run a torture night and wax the mens' chests at the same time!

we're doing loads of one act festivals at the moment and one of our plays is set in somerset/devon in about the middle ages, as the characters are peasants they would have suntans. we've only done one performance so far but we used makeup. though we didn't need it for some of the girls because they already had fake tan on. I don't think some of the boys would have had fake tans! although one did say it made his highlights look natural lol. anyways, my point being it would've been cool to get them with fake tans but i don't think it would've been appropriate. teehee.
