Do you have web stats on your site or just a simple counter (or nothing at all)?
Tell us what you have, where you got it from, and whether you would recommend it to other amdrammers.

I gave up on stats. When I had simple stats for one of my sites, the hits were dominated by the search engine spiders, so it didn't give any usable information.
More complex stats (tracing where the hits came from, repeat visits, etc.) are of interest if you are building a marketing campaign. In my view this is beyond the scope of most amateur theatre websites.

I got CGI scripts which do counter and also log page hits on certain pages which I want.
I also get a RAW LOG file of the last 100 hits on my site, but I can also download the FULL list to see exactly what people are looking at.
It logs every single file downloaded/looked at from my site.
From these I can import it into a database and do proper reviewing of what's what and the number of hits etc...

George,
This is the package we provide for our clients (I'll send you a link via PM to one of our own sites so you can see the type of info it gives you)

We just have a counter on the site although the script also logs IP addresses, browser type etc.
The counter is specifically targeted at the main page but it can be modified to count other page hits as well.
I guess it depends on what you want to use the stats for...we're just curious to see how many hits we get when a show's on.

I use a program called Webaliser that is installed on my server as standard, I find it extremely useful and it logs a lot of information.
I dont have a counter but I do have Nedstats which gives basic statistical information that can be viewed by all visitors

I have installed AXS public domain stats package by Fluid Dynamics which is quite good. Gives me different perspective from my hosting provider (who also have stats package). I also have a simple remotely provided counter by statcounter.com which again is primarily to give me a different perspective from the other packages ... it also provides the counter on the front page (which the others don't).
