What do members pay in annual subscriptions? What other fees do you pay? How do you cover the on-going running cost of your group?
Lightman
KLP ?20 No need for further revenues unless studio needs repairs!
Revue Variety ?10 They dont have big ongoing costs and sell about 1200 tickets aweek
Kings Langley Light Operatic ?25

The Operatic do charge stage fees as well, but as a techy that does not involve me. KLLOC also hold quiz nights etc to balance the books

We dont charge a subscription fee. Depends on the show, to date we charged ?20 for 'Cabaret' as there were so many costumes that were made, and most people kept their party dressed etc.

My co-founder was of the opinion that charging people made it feel like a 'drama club' and it would be harder to kick people out who didnt attend rehearsals etc.

?10 membership fee (it's been the same for at least the past 8 years), we make enough from the panto to subsidise all our other activities (even after giving some of the profit to various charities)

We don't charge a subscription/membership fee. We are fortunate to have our own theatre and, being on a RAF station means that most of our overheads are covered. Like many other societies, our panto is our main moneyspinner and we also have a small bar that contributes to the coffers.

Ours is ?30 a year (?15 concs) for full membership and ?10 for audience only membership. It seems high compared to others, I know, but based in London and having our own (falling down) theatre to maintain, believe me it's necessary!

Subs I pay range from ?10 - ?17.50 a year. All 3 societies are well established societies that largely fund themselves from ticket sales and who have a bank balance (albeit small) to cover anything further. If you're starting a new group I would strongly recommend you get the new group to do some fundraising first - concerts, revues, jumble sales, whatever. Unless subs are high it's unlikely they'll cover the cost of most shows.
Frazer
?10 subs plus ?25 for each show (which includes cost of script)

We find that by keeping subs low we don't often loose members.

When you put them up some people only pay in the years that they
are in something and that makes keeping track of them very difficult
Claire
Membership fees for groups I belong to range from ?10 to ?25 (lower for kids, etc). Some groups also charge a show fee, ?15 to ?30. Scripts at cost if bought. Coffee & bikkies either free, 10p or 20p. And one group even sells upmarket bikkies such as Kit Kat, Twix.

That's a brilliant thought. If only we did that. Why is it that the older you get the more prominent you want to be, whilst at the same time the less able you become... huh.gif

Oh - ours is ?20 adults ?5 for kids

I knew I'd seen a discuission on this before

?15 - ?30 subs, depending on which group.

?20 upwards show fee for each show (if it's a musical) on top of that. No show fees for plays, although you're sometimes expected to pay the cost of your script.

We are a new theatre group about to do it?s inaugural production in April ?05, we don?t have a theatre yet & don?t charge a membership fee. To be in a production is free, with no script fees &/or any other fee based costs.
If we were to charge a membership fee, in line with most other theatre groups, it would be around $20AUD [8.11835 GBP] {Females only as Males are usually allowed to avoid fees!}
We will be charging $10 full & $8 conc seat price for the show, with free beverages & programme.
This production of ?stepping out? we are doing. The Royalty performance fee is $125AUD[50.7064 GBP] per performance, in a 120 seat venue.
We don?t own any equipment & will be building most of the lighting, audio & sets our selves, what we can?t build out of individual resources, will be borrowing for free, from other groups through out the metro area!
We will be doing the costumes from scratch, the same as the stage dressing & most of the basic equipment via workshops held in the group!
I doubt if this helps you!
