I am trying to get hold of a backing track CD or karaoke CD of The Time Warp by Damian from the musical 'Rocky Horror Show' we are looking to use it in our pantomime next month, but am having trouble trying to get it. Any ideas of where I can get hold of a copy or maybe even download from the net onto CD?
Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks
Darren.

Do you use Kazaa?
I've just found the Karaoke version of Time Warp on there. With the super-speedey 2 Meg connection I have in my office I'll have it downloaded in about 3 mins. If it sounds OK I'll cut it to a CD for you & post it if you like...

still waiting for the download, I'm getting "more sources required", so bear with me. If it's no good, you can also get an ordinary recording and use a program such as "Dart Karaoke Studio" to remove the vocals!

Or try a program called Winmix - it does something to do with your hard drive and everyone on it can share tracks etc. (as you can see from my last posts - not a techie!!)
they have loads of tracks on there everything from Drum and Bass to Opera, you can also record at a slower or faster tempo and do some other stuff which I am not sure about!!
www.winmix.com (I think)

Sorry guys!!
The above entries will have to be censored by the moderator of this area, we cannot have the promotion of illegal activities on Amdram.
If you are interested in backing tracks then I can suggest
MidiDBAmdram does not and will not condone illegal activities, visitors should remember that the comments of the poster are not endorsed by amdram.co.uk

Until the courts have decided their fate Kazaa is still legal in my book...

Of course it is illegal, it is music piracy, it's not the sort of thing we want discussed on amdram.
PLEASE DO NOT DISCUSS THIS TOPIC FURTHER

On second thoughts, mustn't upset the thought police or I might have my privileges cut off...and they're my best feature

I agree with Simon on this one. We did consider removing this post completely, but didn't want to infringe anyone's freedom of speech. On the other hand, amdram.co.uk's representatives cannot condone any illegal or immoral activities. We have to make it perfectly clear about this so that we cannot be held responsible for the actions of others.

Sorry, I don't understand. Is Karaoke illegal? I know my singing is bad but I didn't realise it was criminal!!

No we are concerned about the suggestion that this music be obtained in a possible "dodgy manner".

There are a number of perfectly legit backing track companies - we used on called Starsound to get the various back tracks for "Little Voice" when we didn't want to use a band.
The standard sort of price is ?10 per track, plus ?45 to make up a new one if they don't have it in stock - but they're bound to have it in stock anyway!! There are loads of these companies - look online.
Remember, though - the rights to The Rocky Horror Show have not been released for amateurs, so you cannot perform The Time Warp in any way that indicates the show, the style of show, or the dances performed in the show. You can, however, use your own interpretation provided your venue has the usual cover for music, but not in costume that indicates The Rocky Horror Show.

Thanks for all the replies to this topic. Seems as though I have woke a few people up in doing so!
All I want to do is get hold of the backing track!!! hehe.
I will be removing this topic later today, again thanks for the suggestions.

Darren, if you still haven't got the backing track for The Time Warp, most of the backing track firms have it on their books - it'll cost you about ?6 plus postage on CD. Check them all out in The Stage.

Thanks for all the info on this. In the end we did not use the Time Warp!
However, we did use a laptop for all the sound effects. It proved to be a very handy tool indeed! the show went without a hitch - well maybe one or two!! - but hey, we're only amateurs!!!
