There is of course Shirley Valentine - depending on the age of your one woman of course.

How about the Alan Bennett plays? "Bed Among the Lentils" is my dream to perform, and I'll do it one day

Afraid I'm showing my ignorance, Anne-Marie, but what makes it so good? Never heard of it before - is it done much? I confess I am not an Alan Bennett fan which is probably why it's never floated past my consciousness before.

There's a set of 4 (I think) one woman scenes by Arnold Wesker - "Four Portraits of Mothers"
It's approx one act long - if you know what I mean!
The Alan Bennett Talking Heads are good - something for all ages -

Maureen, you have to listen to the Alan Bennett Talking Heads (volume 1) to get it. Borrow it out of your local library and just listen - you'll know what I mean. It's a whole play, with all the emotions you can imagine - tears to comedy - in one. And it can be acted out or played by one woman sitting in a chair. And I guarantee you'll love it. But don't watch it on TV/video - it's not the same.
