Just thought this'd be a good place to let people know if you see any good equipment deals around. Either from manufactures or distrubters websites or on Ebay

My starter, seeing as people always need desks

Anyone wanting a cheap desk - a Zero 88 up for ?100 from LSD Fourth Phase Methinks it's worth a look

Please Note: This is not a place to advertise items for sale or wanted - you can do that on the main site - these posts will be deleted!

Running on e-bay at the moment is a revolve:

built for the show Little Shop Of Horrors. Made to a dia. of 6.5 meters, and a ride hight of 80mm. Built from a 13 section metal frame that bolts together, then a wood floor that screws down on top. There is also a wall section that bolts to divide the turntable in half.

You are of course quite right (I'd missed that one) but for ?100 - it's still great - even if you ship it back to Zero 88 for a service. I've seen these desks advertised for upto ?750 (but they're having a laugh!

Another Fat Frog running at ?1000 at the moment:

We've actually used these guys and our General Stage Manager is now in negotiations to sell them some of our old kit we've replaced, so although they may be a bit expensive (I wouldn't know!), it's working out pretty well for us (and they're very local which helps for transport costs).

A group close to us has recently folded and is selling off their assets, including some lighting gear. I'm investinating this kit on behalf of a couple of local groups who might be interested in buying. Now, I'm no lighting wizz, so I'd like to get an idea of what the second-hand value of some of these items might be.

Of couse, a lot depends on the level of use and misuse this stuff has had over the years, but if anyone has a rough idea please let me know.

RSE Pattern 23 spotlights (qty unknown)
RSE Pattern 23 fresnels (qty unknown)
RSE Pattern 23Na/Rh follow spotlights w/telescopic stands (qty unknown)

Two 6metre 8 way interenally wired barrells w/cables etc
18 way patch panel
Zero88 8level 12 switchboard desk x1
Two Zero88 dimmer units being 12x15 amp beta packs

Once again any pointers would be helpful. I'm seeing the kit this weekend.

This is NOT intended as an advert - I'm just trying to get a feel for the kit value.

Apart from companies on this thread, I would suggest looking at the AC Lighting pages of second hand kit. This can be found here. Even if it is not listed, they might have some idea where to source one.

15A plugs.

http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Main_Index/Wir...ps_2/index.html

OK, so they're not black, and they're not rubber either, but if you can live with that, they are less than a quid each! I've just ordered 20, which will be going in the patch bay, thus freeing up 20 Duraplugs to go on lamps. biggrin.gif

Grab a heap & flog around the traps!
Just a stupid question, why would you bother with a 2 or 5 Amp on re-wireable plug tops for general purpose?
It?s just that our minimum standard is 10Amp for general purpose, except there are a lot of made in China 7.5 Amp plug tops starting to creep in on appliances!
We use ?poofter? plugs for patch boards, lamps & extension cords. Which makes it easier to stack plug into a channel Outlet, GPO or coupling up lamps. Instead of using double adaptors!

I've seen 5A used for dimmed circuits for table lamps in domestic situations. I'd imagine that 2A could be used for the same sort of thing.
Martin
5A are stil common in the educational market as some low end dimmers are only rated at 5A. Did go to a venue and kept blowing channels - when I checked the dimmers were 5A but the theatre outles were 15A!

I'd prefer to move over to 16ACee - and certainly in new builds I'm seeing the majority of 16A being specced - the only disavantage is that people can easily plug in moving heads into dimmed channels thus causing damage where as using 16A for non dim fixtures and 15A for others at least makes people think.

Some half decent sound gear and possibly some usable lighting available at this auction in Sunderland if a local group is interested.

(Look at show catalogue 2. Some Celestion gear near the bottom of the page)

I am having a winter clear out so I have some old Strand lanterns listed on eBay at the moment:

A company near me is getting rid of about 12M of Acro light scaffolding. I think that's the right name; it's the aluminium scaffolding that is often used for rigging lights in theatres where there are inadequate lighting bars, and it's shaped as interlocking triangles. Hardly used, just used for a few trade show displays in fact, and I am led to believe that a token amount would secure the lot. You'll have to be fast though; the owning company is disposing of stock before winding up operations.

A few big aluminium stepladders too, also hardly used.
