Hi,

Could anyone give me any tips for using make-up on kids? I have 7 dwarfs (aged between 4-10) who looked washed out under our lights.

Whenever I go on stage myself, I use foundation, powder, eye liner, lipstick etc etc, but am worried about putting all this stuff on a kiddies face - might affect their skin? As I have no children, I don't want to upset this lot's parents! Are there specific products to aim for ?

Thanks for any advice,

Louise.

Snazeroo Paints are good for Kids.. we've used these before.. I think they've got a website..

Would they need "all over face" makeup?

How about red circles on the cheeks and noses and brown cotton wool beards and eye brows?

Kinda "Garden Gnome" Dwarves...?
Louise_Kirby
No, they don't necessarily need 'all over' make-up. I like the idea of garden gnomes tho - with cotton wool eyebrows & beards.....

Many thanks both, biggrin.gif

And remember that as there's no grease involved, the Snazzeroo (or any other make of water-based face paints) washes off with ordinary soap and water and are non-allergic.

Having worked with children and done a lot of facepainting as part of that I can recomend snazaroos, I've even had to wear them some times, if you saw someone walking done the road in East London with a sheep painted on one cheek last summer it was me!!! Really couldn't be bothered to wash it off before I left work, well that and lack of time, though I did feel kinda stupid by the time I got home ohmy.gif

I wouldn't recommend full makeup on the younger kids and as you probaly want them to look the same, or at least similar the olderones either, my sister you is 10 has worn full make up in pantos but I wouldn't recommend it

And I'm probaly really late in replying but hopefully it will help other people in the future too

It's certainly not too late to reply, Loupie. All the while the thread is still open and hasn't been archived, it's still active and being looked at.

I agree - Snazaroo are great. And the thing with not putting too much make up on kids......a lot of them want it!!!
Loopy Loupie
That is of course true.

I did have one kid say they were allergic to facepaint but not snazaroos. Though we didn't do face painted with them just in case

I realise how old this topic is but thought that anyone might be able to use this as a reference for the future. I highly recommend, along with everyone else, the use of Snazzaroo (sp?) with kids, but also have you tried Kryolan make up? They do a range called Aquacolour which is water-based therefore oil-free and you can buy a really wide variety of colours and i think that you can even get them in UV colours.
Hope this helps somebody oneday!
