Following on from a similar discussion, I would be interested in seeing online newsletters that other groups produce. We have our own but I'd still like to get a feel for the type of things that are included by others. It you have something and are happy to forward it, please do so.
Thanks.

I generally comment on general things that are happening in the Society and then provide links back to a page on the site with more details and photos.
Ryano, a better way to research this maybe to search through the productions database and subscribe to loads of the newsletters from other societies and compare their content.
You can always unsubscribe when you have finished!

As I said on another thread, a paper newsletter is produced and I get sent the electrronic copy which I then email a text version out and post a version on the website ... have a look at the web version:
http://crowthornemusicalplayers.org.uk/new...ewsletter.shtmlSometimes I do an additional newsletter email posting of my own if there's been much updated on the website. A bit adhoc though.

I do one but we don't send it out online. About half of the members of that particular group are over retirement age so they like a "proper" newsletter in the post! And people still have worries about viruses on attachments, etc. They tend not to like it on the website as it's meant to be for members' eyes only!
I always try and persuade a member to do a biog of themselves and put that in if I can - it's surprising what you come up with and they're great for future reference ("oh yes, so and so is Grade 8 flute" and that sort of thing!). After all, that's how we found out that Martin is a qualified ballroom dancer - yes, it's true!!

Thanks Anne-Marie

*wondering if that post needs moderating*

Ryano,
Colbury and Ashurst Theatrical Society (CATS) newsletter can be found on the web site.
Take the link above and follow the left navigation bar link to CATS Newsletter.
You will see from the text that this is done as both a printed edition and an e-mail version, with the archive on the site.
You will also deduce that we are towards the trivial end of the market.

I am responsible for producing our club's newsletter. I try to make it as fun, and as informative as I can. I have a section titled "Members News" which lists club members birthdays/anniversaries/or any special occassion they may have. I also have a "Green Room" section which lists all our social events (of which there are many!) as well as photos of previous nights out. I also include "Laughter Lines" where I like to add amdram jokes/funny drama stories etc etc. I include news of our current productions/ticket sales and also info I have on any other local amdram club's productions. Unfortunately we are not online yet ? but have plans for this in the future!
Any other good ideas which I could use? Does anyone know of any good websites where I can obtain good jokes/funny stories etc etc.
Keep up the good work Jane - this is the best website I have visited in a long time!

Whoever the unregistered guest was that wanted jokes for their newsletter, just go to you favourite search engine and type in "The Techie's Gospel" or search for "Theatre jokes". You'll find thousands. Even I never knew I could find over 200 "how many......does it take to screw in a lightbulb" jokes!
Or give me your email address and mail them all across to you.

I am resurrecting this topic as I have just started creating a printed newsletter. I am not sure if I will launch it yet as I need to get a feel for how much response it will get.
If you have a newsletter sent out to you DO you read it?
If you are the editor for the newsletter DO you get feedback?
If you are trying to communicate something important to everyone at once is this a good medium and do you think the people you are targetting the message at, get the message?
Best wishes

Yup i read them
Not very often
Yes they get the message and it is a good medium however you still need to send a hard copy out for those who do not partake in the WWW.

We have an on-line archive of newsletters going back to 2000. They are accessible in the Newsletters tab off the homepage. Following website link should take you there:
Club Theatre Altrincham Home PageIncluded in this are generally articles about the theatre, past events and future events, general gossip and relevant contacts etc.
Due to many of our members not necessarily being computer literate, the newsletters are always sent out with the booking forms for the next play. We have thought about an e-mail set-up, but are not sure how viable it would be at present despite the obvious cost savings with the 2nd class post having gone up yet again!

I send out a bi-monthly newsletter via the post to all our members and to some other friends of the society.
I try to include details about our productions and activities going on within the society along with other snippets of news such as other productions going on (both amateur and professional), sightings of famous members, jokes etc
We did just have a formal newsletter that really just covered our own activities but we changed to this new format to liven it up a bit and so far i think it has paid off.
I have requested members send in possible articles but to date i have had nothing from members - does anybody out there experience something similar
I have toyed with updating our website to be a bit more atractive and to also include the newsletter in an electronic format (possibly PDF) but i havent really had the time to concentrate on this just yet.

We always have requests for bits of info which will be of interest for the members on Theatre goings on etc, but this is generally pretty dead, leaving only the committee members to contribute.
I have ideas for inclusion in the newsletters myself, but unfortunately do not get the time to further them for the newsletter. Ideas basically along the lines of 'how do they do that'.

In a newsletter it is important to keep changing the content. We have a house style that is used in every one but the contents have to kept interesting. We have a special newsletter which we send to all new members welcoming them and enclosing the details of where to park and articles on how we operate.
As Steve has already said the last 4 years are available on line from our website. I didn't include them in PDF as everyone gets a printed copy and the extra overhead isn't worth the effort at present.
PDF format is great if you want print compatability over many combinations of printer and PC but for browsing you just put an extra step into the chain. I prefer to add hyperlinks from the front page to each article.
This is a "lo-fi" version of our main content. To view the full version with more information, formatting and images, please
