Hi

We are a london based amateur group - presenting Sleeping Beauty in January and we urgently require some Rat Masks!

Sadly- you would think that these would be very easy to find - alas they are not!!!

Can anyone point us in the right direction?? At the moment we feel we are in a rat trap and we've been caught!!!

Help???

Rgds

I've been able to find some rat masks for children - www.partydomain.co.uk. These are only cheapy plastic masks but they are only ?1.99. Hope this helps.

Get a piece of A4 size paper. (Black or Brown or dark Grey).
(Should be big enough to fit over face of child)

Bend into a Cone Shap.

Put a Red nose at the end with stiffened wool whiskers glued to them.
(If no red noses, just paint the end red)

Cut eye holes... Quite large at top...

Paint teeth on the side if required...

Shouldn't take more than 2 or 3 hours to make 20..

Mind you, do you remember the National's production of 'Wind in the Willows'? All the animals were achieved by using make up and costumes. The rats has long brown or pink tails attached to costumes and brown ears on hats. Some were evil gangster type rats, not like Ratty. You could buy some joke protruding teeth for the rats to wear and do brown make up, darker noses etc.
When I copied the make-up ideas, my tails got the right swing by using plumbers foam as the base of the tail and stretchy pink or brown fabric for the tail and some light foam. Down the cantre ran some masking tape covered garden wire so that the tail could be curved and yet pliable. You cover the wire with the foam and the foam with the stretchy fabric stuuffing the root of the tail into the plumbers foam base. The end should taper. Stitch accordingly.

Thanks everyone for your help with Rat Masks - alas we could not find anything quite suitable - so our Rats are now Wolves and these masks seem to be a lot easier to locate!!

Happy Christmas to you all..............
