Hello everyone
Can anyone suggest what I can use to prepare my skin for making up. I tend
to sweat very heavily on stage - especially when wearing a wig or hat and as
I am playing Dave in Aladdin next week I can see disaster looming.
There must be some sort of pore closer I can try??!!
Please help!!
Over to you.

Grimas do a make up fixer which is powder based and is applied over the top of their cream make up. I find it works for me as I suffer in a similar fashion and it used to drive me mad!

I did a make-up course and to set your make-up you need to get some translucent loose powder and press it onto your foundation so your face is really dry. Then you can put eye make-up, rouge etc on top of that. I don't think there's anything else you can do apart from that. Hope it helps.

Mary Kay Cosmetics (do you have it there?) makes something called an "oil absorber" (for men) and for women it is called "oil control lotion". Do you know anyone who distributes this? The way it works is like this: it has an ingredient in it that behaves like microscopic "sponges" and absorbs oil as it is produced by the skin. We had a very large Mr. Applegate in Damn Yankees who sweat like nobody's business. Sorry to say it didn't work all that well for him, but it has for others....you might give it a try. (Important: when you apply this, do so with small, featherlike strokes to set the product on the skin -- do not use long, sweeping strokes, or the little molecules of magic end up on the edge of your face. You need it evenly distributed.) Then go ahead and do whatever you do for your makeup.

I'd like to add that I don't sweat much, only when tap dancing, in a peach dress and singing top tennor in a 3 part G&S Princess Ida role....

Mike,
Please can you advise who makes Pro-face, which you recommended under makeup to prevent sweat damage?
Thanks

I got some for doing Stepping Out and it does work very well. I got mine from Three Kings Theatrical, as Mike suggests ... (very cheap too).
