The Blickling Players

Blickling, Nr Aylsham, Norfolk

The Blickling Players are one of Norfolk's smallest amateur theatre groups, and usually perform two or three plays every year at the Lothian Barn, right next door to Blickling Hall, a National Trust building and estate, about 2 miles from the centre of Aylsham, a market town in North Norfolk.

But their first 1998 production, in January, was performed in Blickling Old School, which is now a community centre - the Players enjoyed a virtually sold-out couple of nights, but the hall only seated about 50 people when the stage was erected! They staged two one-act plays, and featured virtually every member in a named part. But one or two did do the decent thing, and worked backstage/foh instead - but some "as well as"!

The Blickling Players summer production of Night Must Fall was staged in the Lothian Barn, on the National Trust's Blickling estate. It was very successful indeed, with a full-capacity audience on the last night - well worth the effort, said all concerned!
